Blackmans' Reunion 2008

Family + Food + Fun= Blackmans' Reunion September 2008
After Wesley flew in Thursday morning and everyone got out of school on Thursday afternoon, we headed south. We had a couple of stops on the way. The first was a fireworks frenzy outside of St. Jo, Missouri. Chase had to get a fireworks fix, and he didn't leave empty handed. Then by the time we started through Kansas City, Morgan was screaming with stomach pain. We ended up in the emergency room from 10pm until 3am. We now have her on Pepsid and no caffeine. (Also, no ice coffees from McDonalds.)
We arrived at Dad's house on Friday afternoon, and then to Uncle Doug's house on Saturday for the pig roast / family reunion. We all enjoyed the wonderful moments visiting with cousins, Aunts, Uncles, and Grandparents. Each year the time is cherished more and more! The children played, roamed the woods and pastures, and fished in the ponds. The moments were ones which filled all of our childhood excursions.
We departed on Sunday afternoon after a terrible windstorm blew down a huge tree near dad's house. It ruined our lunch plans of fried catfish and hushpuppies. We arrived at the St. Louis airport around 5 and dropped off Wesley. He headed north to Minneapolis. Then we made it to Columbia so Chase could find a pool to wash off the seed ticks and chiggers.
The trip brought back old memories and created many new ones for us to smile about until we return again next October.
